Pocket Rocket

Pocket Rocket     My  first idea for the selection and refinement was unknown starting out, as I was unsure of how I could further my objects to make them seamless. The feedback I received from my classmates was extremely helpful and guided me through my selection process. I decided on refining the rocket I created to demonstrate children's safety and their endless imaginations.    Feedback is always incredibly helpful in creating a well rounded design, and especially with this project where many ideas were being outputted and exhausted. The first partner I was with enjoyed the Soup Kitchen creation and thought I could've gone through and refined it further by adding different kinds of bones. I thought that this was incredibly interesting and debated doing it, but I still wanted to see what the other groups had to say before I made any further decisions. My second group was split between my rocket and the story book, which was the two ideas I felt were developed...

Your Everyday Mish-mosh

Your Everyday Mish-mosh Starting out this project, I brainstormed ideas surrounding what Remix Culture was to me and what my understanding of it was. The biggest foundational interest I found as a part of this project was the juxtaposition of two elements that create contrast within a piece. Throughout my works, I worked around different concepts, as well as mental an visual textures and the ideas surrounding the objects I chose. I also wanted to think about 'mundane' objects as much as I could to create something interesting. Growing up, I've always been surrounded by art as my father is an artist and always exposed me to different ideas and concepts. One of his favourite concepts and style of art was surrealism and this project reminded me of the beauty of surrealism. Although this project is more about remix culture, it really helped my brain digest the concept and what I was supposed to be thinking about. When I think about surrealism and remix culture, juxtaposition an...

Objectified Response

Objectified Response     As our first project commenced we were assigned to watch the documentary, 'Objectified' by Gary Hutswit and respond by creating a 3D object inspired by the film. Watching this documentary, I was enthralled by each designer and their approach to designing objects made for the every day use in a commercial setting. However, the designer who stood out to me the most was Karim Rashid as he believes in design that is a physical interpretation of the digital age we are currently in. I was inspired by the speaker he described he had as a child which was a white claritone speaker with round speakers that had an almost human qualities to it. He described how it felt like a womb to him and immediately I thought of this design.      This is the speaker I designed inspired by Rashid's childhood speaker. I wanted to play with the idea of the speaker as a womb, and thought about what a uterus looks like. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be neat i...
