Pocket Rocket: Glorified


    This project was a grind to complete and my computer crashed at least 7 times, which made me lose my project multiple times without any way to retrieve it. It was a failure and a huge learning curve for me. I also tried doing this on a Mac and was very lost as to where the commands were, and the ground plane wouldn't render every time I retried. Overall, I had fun playing with the effects and found this to be a very interesting program to learn more about. I would like to look more into fixing the problem of my computer crashing and losing my work, as I think I could create a much better piece than what I made. Working on a Mac doesn't have the same features I found, and was unable to do some of the effects I originally wanted to as they wouldn't render properly. I took screenshots along the way to try and save the look I was going for. I present you my outtakes.

Your Everyday Mish-mosh Starting out this project, I brainstormed ideas surrounding what Remix Culture was to me and what my understanding of it was. The biggest foundational interest I found as a part of this project was the juxtaposition of two elements that create contrast within a piece. Throughout my works, I worked around different concepts, as well as mental an visual textures and the ideas surrounding the objects I chose. I also wanted to think about 'mundane' objects as much as I could to create something interesting. Growing up, I've always been surrounded by art as my father is an artist and always exposed me to different ideas and concepts. One of his favourite concepts and style of art was surrealism and this project reminded me of the beauty of surrealism. Papercraft: Dagger Style The prompt for this project was to create an object out of paper that was important or significant to us in some form. The dagger was a choice I made based off my brother and his love for a certain webtoon series so I thought it would be interesting to see how far I could push my abilities. I had many ideas, and started out with my first design, however proved to be unsuccessful as the way it unfolded was very difficult to actually build, so I restarted the design and went with something more streamlined and realistic. I revised this a few times, making the sides of the blade wider to accommodate for more tabs and a sturdier blade as my prototype was flimsy and didn't hold well. I had to make everything a bit larger including the edge pieces of the blade to make sure I could actually build it.      The feedback from the peer review was incredibly helpful to make the dagger come to life.
